Ultra-Precision Duplexing In 1996 we felt the way to duplex a ball bearing economically and most accurately would be to perform a preload operation after the bearing is assembled, with balls in place. We knew at the time we were not first to try this. In December of 2009 we successfully duplexed twenty bearings of a 7206 40-degree angular contact Class 1 bearing. We maintained the preload faces within 20 millionths, probably 10 millionths, to the internal geometry of the bearing. We found we can comfortably hold the stickout tolerance to 0.0000, +0.000050 in. The smallest bearing we are tooled to handle has a 10 mm bore. The largest has a 35 mm bore. This includes the 6000, 7000, 6200, 7200, 6300, and 7300 series.
